＊recognisable ( = recognizable ) : ( 誰であるのか、何であるのか ) 見分けがつく
＊plus ( 複数形は pluses ) : 利点、利益、長所 ( advantage, benefit )
＊minus ( 複数形は minuses ) : 欠点、不利な点、短所
Being well known and easily recognisable has its pluses and minuses という「 節 」( 主部＋述部を含む語群 ) において、主部は Being well known and easily recognisable であり、
述部は has ( ～を持っている ) です。
この Being は「 動名詞 (gerund) 」( 動詞の名詞化 ) です。
＊be 「 ～である 」→ being 「 ～であること 」
Being well known and easily recognisable は、
「有名で、顔がよく知られているということ」です。
Being well known and easily recognisable という主部は、単数扱いですから、
動詞が has になっています。
its pluses and minuses の部分で、its は「 それの 」という意味です。
＊its = 「 それの 」= 「 有名で顔がよく知られているということ 」の
its pluses and minuses は、
「 有名で顔がよく知られているという事に伴う、プラス面とマイナス面 」です。
次に、文の後半部分の the minuses are more than outweighed by the pluses を見ていきます。
the minuses と the pluses のところですが、
直前の its pluses and minuses ( 有名で顔がよく知られているという事に伴う、
プラス面とマイナス面) と同じものを指しており、
特定の「 プラス面とマイナス面 」であるから、定冠詞の the がついています。
＊outweigh : ～よりも重い // ～よりも重要である、( 重要性や利益・価値の点で ) ～ よりも勝る
( まさる ) → 接頭辞 out は、「 それ以上に、より優れて 」。
weigh は、「 重さが ～ である、～ の重さをはかる 」。
便宜上、outweigh を仮に「 ～ を追い抜く 」と和訳してみます。
the minuses are outweighed by the pluses において、
are outweighed は、「 be 動詞 ＋ 過去分詞 」ですから、「 受動態 」( ～ される ) です。
by the pluses は、「 長所によって 」です。
the minuses are outweighed by the pluses は、
「マイナス面 ( 短所 ) はプラス面 ( 長所 ) によって追い抜かれる」です。
この are outweighed の部分が、more than という表現によって強調されているので、
are more than outweighed は、「 大差で ( はるかに ) 追い抜かれる」です。
(1) の試訳: 「 有名で顔がよく知られているという事には、プラス面とマイナス面があるが、プラス面の方がマイナス面をはるかに上回っている。 」
